Daniel Rixon

English teacher and Grade 8R homeroom

Daniel worked for the historic Theatre Royal Bath, in the UK, for almost ten years, building and working on international touring shows.  He was part of the management team that oversaw the building of ‘The Egg’ – a unique youth theatre enterprise – encompassing studio, performance and education space.  He subsequently spent more than three years working with young people in crisis care, gaining counseling, special education, catering and outdoor education qualifications.  He helped set up and run a leaving care home for 15 and 16 year olds and supervised the care and education packages of many young adults.  After working in a number of specialist schools in England he gained sponsorship to follow his ambition of moving to Canada to train to be a teacher here.

Having travelled extensively through work and leisure Daniel has chosen to settle in Canada with his young family and enjoys the historic city of Kingston and the opportunities it offers for outdoor pursuits.  He practices student centered learning and believes in making teaching socially relevant.  Daniel is an active writer, enjoys relaxing with music and good food, and loves to be outside with his dog and children.
