Jamie MacDonald
Art teacher and Grade 7 homeroom
Jamie MacDonald is a long-time resident of Kingston, an avid artist, and a graduate of Queen’s University (B.A. (Hons), B.Ed.). As a member of the Portrait Society of Canada he has been involved in a number of group and solo art shows, in Kingston and Toronto, and was a finalist for the 2007 Kingston Prize for Portraiture, the first national competition for portraiture in Canada. He has been an active participant in local charity, donating many of his works for various fund-raising efforts. Jamie enjoys painting landscapes and illustrations, but finds himself returning to portraiture, time and again, for the challenge and excitement of capturing the uniqueness of others.
Jamie completed teachers’ college in 2009, specializing in Primary/Junior age groups, and went on to be involved in the Creative Arts Focus Program, of the Limestone District School Board, for the 2009-2010 year. While not engaged in art or teaching, Jamie is also a competitive fencer and has organized an after-school fencing club for the older students at KTS. During his years at Queen’s he was a member of the Men’s Sabre team, and acted as an assistant-coach. He also enjoys writing, gardening, aviation, and motorcycling.
