T.J. Briscoe
Grade 4/5 teacher
Thomas John (T.J.) is excited to be joining the KTS team this year as the grade 4/5 teacher, having been part of the KTS community for the past year as a volunteer and supply teacher. In 2010, T.J. graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Health Science. In spring 2011 he graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Education.
As an educator, it is T.J.’s philosophy that teachers in every role have the responsibility of providing the most appropriate instruction for every student, and to ensure they are given every opportunity to succeed not only in the academic sphere, but in other aspects of life as well. He believes that all students have the right to feel successful, and that they all have the capacity to do so.
T.J. is also passionate about outdoor education, and has spent the last four summers as the lead whitewater kayak instructor and canoe guide for youth groups throughout northern Ontario and Quebec. He believes that the confidence gained through outdoor pursuits positively impacts students both personally and academically.
Aside from teaching, T.J. enjoys whitewater kayaking and canoeing, mountain biking, alpine and cross-country skiing and seeing the world.
