Grade 1/2 Teacher
Katherine Teepell has been a teacher in Kingston and the surrounding area since 2009. She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Her goal as a teacher is to make learning fun and engaging for everyone; using hands-on activities and incorporating the interests of students to make learning relevant and enticing. She has been a part of Track and Field and Cross-Country running teams, Art Club, Improv Teams and school plays. In 2012, Katherine and her young son participated in Roots of Empathy- a bully prevention program that aims to build empathy in children. She participated in MEND (Mediating Ends Negative Disagreements) training which focuses on restorative conflict resolution. Katherine uses her MEND training and experience with Roots of Empathy to create an inclusive classroom- a place where strengths are recognized and growth is encouraged.
Katherine loves spending time with her two young boys. Whenever she is not playing or singing with her boys, she can be found working in the garden, baking and enjoying her newest good read.
