Head Directress, Montessori Classroom
Martha (Dinsdale) Thomson is a Montessori Directress who has been teaching since 1992. Martha brings with her a wealth of knowledge of Montessori philosophy as well as years of experience running her own classroom. Martha focuses on the individual needs of the children in her classroom guiding them as they strive to navigate through their world. Martha graduated in 1988 from Queen's University with a BA in English. After visiting a Montessori school in Paris, while travelling through Europe in the early 90's, Martha discovered the Montessori method of teaching and has been smitten ever since. Martha enrolled in the Montessori Casa training program in Toronto at the Foundation for Montessori Education and was privileged to be under the tutelage of Renilde Montessori (Maria Montessori's Granddaughter). Before teaching in Kingston, Martha taught at the Perth Children's House for one year. After getting married, Martha moved to Kingston and has been teaching here ever since.
A native of Kingston, Martha was a competitive figure skater growing up who went on to coach skating in her late teens and throughout University. When Martha is not at home with her husband, daughter and energetic dog, she enjoys travelling, working out, spending time at her cottage, organizing herself and others, walking, reading, yoga and cooking.
