Executive Director - Parental Leave Replacement
King’s Town School (KTS) is looking to hire an Executive Director to join our team. This would be a temporary position to cover parental leave. KTS is an independent not-for-profit elementary school offering an enriched Kindergarten to grade eight program and a Montessori preschool. Located in downtown Kingston, KTS takes great pride in promoting a community of teachers, students, parents, and staff members who all contribute to a wholesome, enriched, and transformational learning experience. The successful candidate would begin on Monday November 18, 2024 and continue in the position until Friday August 15, 2026.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will work in a constructive partnership with the Board of Directors to manage and oversee King’s Town School operations as they pertain to business planning and staffing while consistently striving to achieve our mission, vision, and values.
This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work model. The successful candidate will have the option of creating a weekly schedule that includes remote work and in person office hours.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term strategic goals related to the positioning of the school in the educational landscape in Kingston

Provide visionary leadership, supporting the continued growth and success of the school

Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and community engagement.

Operational Management:
-
Oversee daily operations, including supervision of board administrator and maintenance positions

Annual review of all school policies
-
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations

Collaborate with the administrative team

Financial Oversight:
-
Manage the school’s budget, financial reporting, and fundraising efforts.

Identify opportunities for resource development, including grants, partnerships, and donations.

Work with the Board to ensure financial stability and transparency.

Oversee and coordinate bi-weekly payroll.

Staff & Community Relations:
-
Support the recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality teaching and administrative staff.

Act as a liaison between staff, parents, and the Board, ensuring open and effective communication.

Marketing & Fundraising:
-
Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to enhance the school’s visibility and enrollment.

Lead fundraising initiatives and events that promote the school’s growth and financial health.

Qualifications:
-
Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally within the education or non-profit sector.

Strong financial and business acumen, ideally a post-secondary degree in business or a related discipline
-
Demonstrated passion for education and child development.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
-
Experience working with a Board of Directors and a deep understanding of non-profit governance.
The successful candidate shall be required to provide references as well as a current criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, at their own expense as a condition of employment.
Job Type:
Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary Range:
$55,000-$60,000 plus benefits
